AMIKAVED

Product Description

AMIKAVED is an injectable aminoglycoside antibiotic formulated with Amikacin. It binds to the bacterial 30S ribosomal subunit, causing misreading of messenger RNA and preventing the bacterium from synthesizing proteins essential for its growth and survival. This bactericidal mechanism makes AMIKAVED effective against a broad range of aerobic Gram-negative bacteria and select Gram-positive organisms. It is generally reserved for serious bacterial infections, particularly where resistance to more commonly used antibiotics is suspected or confirmed.

Key Benefits:

  • Bactericidal action through disruption of bacterial protein synthesis at the ribosomal level.
  • Effective against aerobic Gram-negative bacteria, including E. coli, Proteus spp., Pseudomonas spp., Salmonella spp., Shigella spp., Serratia spp., and Enterobacter spp.
  • Also active against the Gram-positive organism Staphylococcus.
  • A useful option for infections resistant to other, more commonly used antibiotics, including some gentamicin-resistant strains.
